The Indian men's equestrian team has a golden chance of a maiden qualification at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics?, said foreign coach Rodolphe Scherer.
"Asian Games showed if Army, government and federation can work together, results will come," Scherer told PTI on the sidelines of the Delhi Horse Show on Saturday.
"If they can't work together, then future is dark. Having said that, India has a very good chance to qualify," the Frenchman added.
India won a record two medals at the 2018 Asian Games including the silver won by Fouaad Mirza.
Scherer has been working with the Indian team for the past two years. India will have to compete against Indonesia, Thailand, China and South Africa for the final two Olympic spots.
"We have about six months time to prepare and qualify. If the boys perform to their potential I have no doubt they will qualify. The main competition will be from China and South Africa," he said.
"Your country has amazing talent but it needs to be nurtured the right way. And you also must have more arenas (footings) of international standard. As of now, there is only one in Bengaluru," Scherer added.
