Acting Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced that the State Government will build a memorial for the late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee
in Hyderabad.
Taking part in discussion in Telangana Legislative Council on Thursday on a condolence motion over death of Vajpaee KCR said that apart from a building the memorial spread over an acre will have a pillar as well as statue of Vajpaee.
Legislative Council which met for a day also passed condolence resolutions for the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, former Lok Sabha speaker and veteran leftist leader Somnath Chatterji and mimicry artist Nerella Venu Madhav, who passed away recently.
Paying rich tributes to the former Prime Minister Vajpaee KCR described him as a great leader and a great man who never compromised on his convictions.
“He was part of India’s soul and will remain so”, KCR said recalling his services to the nation during his long political career.
He recalled that despite stiff opposition from the United States India under his leadership conducted the nuclear test in Pokhran. Similarly he recalled that whether it was Kargil war or peace he Vajpaee never hesitated to speak his mind.
Leader of opposition Mohammed Ali Shabbir and members of other parties also paid their tributes to the departed leaders.
The House also expressed its condolence over the death of 57 passengers in bus accident at Kondagattu near Jagatiyal and deaths in massive floods in Kerala.
