The Odisha Madamukti Abhijan has urged the State’s Women’ Self-Help Groups, social worker organisations, women’s organisations, youth organisations, student organisations and the public to hold Sankalpa gatherings in their respective localities from October 2 to 9 to strengthen public awareness for total prohibition in the State.
Odisha Madamukti Abhijan convenor Pramila Swain on Wednesday alleged that despite the Odisha Prohibition Act having been passed, it is not being implemented.
She said alcoholic addiction is the main cause of all social problems like domestic violence against women and children, crimes and accidents.
It has an adverse impact on the society.
Swain requested the individuals and organisations who agree to total prohibition in the State to hold oath-taking conventions for the purpose from Gandhi Jayanti to Gopabandhu Jayanti.
