Section 144 of CrPC was on Saturday clamped at Dhamnagar in Bhadrak district as tension erupted over a fire outbreak at the Dhamnagar Bazaar on Friday night.
The prohibitory orders were imposed at Dhamnagar Chhak, the NAC area, Bhagbanpur, Palikiri and Dobala Bazaar for 24 hours from 10 am on Saturday.
Unidentified miscreants had torched four houses located at the Dhamnagar Bazaar which led to tension in the area.
Five platoons of police forces have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident, police sources said. The Collector ad SP of Bhadrak and the Dhamnagar MlA took stock of the situation.
“It is a case of fire accident. Many rumours are generally spread during such incidents. We hope people will not pay attention to such rumours,” said Collector Gyana Ranjan Das.
A compensation of Rs 98,900 was provided by the district administration to a family whose house was completely damaged in the fire and Rs 3,200 to three families whose houses were partially damaged.
