Punjab-Haryana region to get relief from heat: Met forecasts rain for next two days

Hot conditions persisted in most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Friday. The Met Department has forecast rain or thundershowers in the region over the next two days.

Several places recorded the maximum temperature near the 40-degree mark, including Haryana’s Hisar which had a high of 39.2 degrees Celsius.

Narnaul in Haryana faced the scorching heat at maximum temperature of 38.2 degree Celsius, while Ambala settled at 38.7 degrees. Punjab’s holy city Amritsar experienced heat wave conditions recording maximum temperature at 38.1 degree Celsius, one degree above normal. Patiala and ludhiana recorded respective maximum temperatures at 39.5 degrees and 38.9 degree Celsius.

Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana recorded maximum temperature at 38.2 degree Celsius.

Meanwhile, the union territory of Chandigarh settled at minimum temperature of 23.4 degree Celsius, which was two notches above normal. Among other places, Ambala settled at minimum of 22.4 degree Celsius, Hisar 24 degrees, Karnal 21.5 degree Celsius, Amritsar recorded 19.6 degree Celsius and ludhiana settled at 20.9 degrees.

The Met Department has warned of a thunderstorm and squall, with the wind speed exceeding 45 Kmph at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana over the next two days.
