Opposition to stage protest at Raj Bhawan on July 10

Sunday, 02 July 2017 | PNS | Ranchi

Following inaction over the Election Commission letter directing the State Government to take action against the two of its officials involved in alleged horse trading during the recent Rajya Sabha elections, the Opposition parties have decided to stage dharna at Raj Bhawan on July 10 to press their demand.

Talking to mediapersons after a meeting of the Opposition parties here, former CM Babulal Marandi also demanded CM Raghubar Das’ resignation as he was not able to control lynching incidents in the State. The meeting was also attended by Jharkhand Vikas Morcha, Congress, CPI and CPI (Ml).

“The way crowd lynching and other incidents are taking place in the State, it appears that the Raghubar Government was not able to control them and hence he must tender his resignation from the post of Chief Minister or the Governor should remove him,” said the former Chief Minister.

Marandi also alleged the incidents of Ramgarh, Giridih or latehar would not have taken place, if the Government had acted against the investigation reports submitted after such incidents in Ranchi, Bokaro and Hazaribagh.

“Even though, VHP leaders were named in Ranchi incident and name of an MlA surfaced in Bokaro incident, the Government did not take action against them. Confidence of such anti-social elements gets a boost up as action is not taken against them,” Marandi said.

These incidents, according to the JVM chief, were not spontaneous, but well planned and took place under a conspiracy of the Government to create disturbances.

“We will go and meet the victim’s family members in Ramgarh tomorrow, Giridih on July 7. We will also go to Chatra later as it is our moral responsibility to check such incidents,” Marandi said.

The opposition parties will also stage a dharna to press their demands to repeal CNT-SPT amendment Bill by the State Government and action against ADG Anurag Gupta and the then Political Advisor Ajay Kumar for alleged horst trading case.

“A dharna will be staged on July 10 at Raj Bhawan to press our demands that action must be taken against the two persons named by the EC,” said Marandi. Despite the fact that the EC has recommended action against the two persons, no action has been taken against them, he added.

“They should have been removed immediately after lodging an FIR against them. It is an open violation of law,” said the former Chief Minister.  Referring to the efforts being made by the State Government to amend CNT and SPT Acts, he added provisions are already there for the acquisition of land for public purposes.

“If already there is a provision of land acquisition by the Government for public purposes under Section 49 and 50 of CNT, SPT Acts, which are also being practised since long, then why they are trying to amend it,” Marandi said. It must be repealed in its original form and the Government should not try to bring it again in the Assembly, he added.

“It is now clear that the purpose they were trying to fulfill through Sections 21 and 13 of CNT, SPT Acts, they are now trying to fulfill it thought Section 49 of CNT, SPT Acts,” he said.
