Wednesday evening was filled with musical extravaganza as the songs of lata Mangeshkar enthralled the audience. A musical event Swar Madhuri was organised at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium on Wednesday.
Organised by music department of Sarojini Naidu Girls’ PG Government College (Nutan College), the event was held as a tribute to lata Mangeshkar’s contribution in classical singing. Performed by the Head of Department of Music at Nutan College Ashwina Rangdekar the event was a zestful one.
While talking about the event Swar Madhuri, Ashwina Rangdekar told The Pioneer, Ashwina said, “I have done a research on lata Mangeshkar’s work. I was fascinated by her creativity and she is known as the nightingale of Bollywood, she was the best person I can conduct the research on. Her songs are still enjoyed by the music lovers and she is still the legend of Hindi film cinema.”
The event began with the song ‘paayo Ji Maine’ by Ashwina. She then performed Allah Tero Naam and ‘Aayega Aane Wala.’ Notably, Ashwina was accompanied by young students of her college. The young students also performed lata Mangeshkar’s hit tracks like Yara Silly Silly, Dil Hoom Hoom Kare, lag Ja Gale, Mohe Panghat pe, Ab Toh Hai Tumse and many more.
The singers were accompanied by Kedar Chauhan on Synthesizer, Sanjeev Jha on Guitar, Sunil Bhatt on Tabla, Rajkumar on Dholak and Vishal on Octopod.
It was a tuneful and melodious evening for the Bhopalites as they witnessed the best of lata Mangeshkar’s songs live.
