A local court in Jaunpur issued warrant against the MlA of Bharatiya Janta Party after the latter not turned up for hearing in a case registered against him in 2010.
Reports said that the BJP MlA in Jaunpur, Dr Harendra Pratap Singh, during a protest in Odalganj area of the Kotwali on August 28, 2010, had blocked the road along with his supporters and had also burnt the effigy of then Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram. It may be mentioned that at time, Singh was not a MlA. Constable Manoj and Rajendra, who were on duty lodged a case against Singh along with BJP leaders Ajay Pandey, Ishwar Devi and unknown Party workers. later the local police, after investigation had also produced a charge-sheet in the case against the above accused after which all of them had procured bail.
Reports said that when the above accused including the MlA not turned up for hearing in the matter, local Chief Judicial Magistrate court of Abhinay Mishra finally issued a non-bailable warrant against them. The cops, however, not served the NBW and informed the court that Singh has now became a MlA and that he was not available in home as he was abroad. On this, the CJM court cancelled the NBW and served fresh Warrant against Singh, asking the cops to produce him in the matter. One of the above accused reportedly turned up after NBW was issued against him and he was sent to jail.
