To make the estimates of project costs rational and competitive, and to further improve the quality of development works, Haryana Government has decided to make amendment in Haryana PWD Schedule of Rates, 1988.
A decision in this regard was taken at a review meeting of the Department held under the chairmanship of Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh, here.
During the meeting, it was decided to constitute a fact-finding committee to make the Haryana PWD Schedule of Rates, 1988 on the pattern of Delhi Schedule of Rates, which would include retired engineers of the department and representatives of contractor unions. The Committee would study goods chapter-wise and submit its report within six months after preparing list and fixing rates.
The Minister directed the officers that public utility services such as removal of electricity poles, shuttering or transfer of other such services should not be included in total costs of development projects.
He said that usually, the Power Department takes time to remove the poles located in the centre of roads whereas the amount for this work was deposited with opening of bids and allocation of work.
A committee of superintending engineers would be constituted at zonal level which would meet regularly and allot works of construction of roads, bridges and buildings to superintending engineers on equal basis, he added.
