East Coast Rly observes 62nd Railway Week

To commemorate the advent of the first train on Indian soil in April 1853 between Bombay and Thane, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) observed the 62nd Railway Week on Friday.

ECoR General Manager Umesh Singh and ECoR Women’s Welfare Organisation (ECoRWWO) president Madhulika Singh graced the occasion as chief guest and guest of honour, respectively. Aditional GM Rajiv Sharma was also present.

Umesh Singh complimented the railway men for the determination and devotion to their duties with a progressive attitude and for their valuable contributions. He also asked the railway men to continue their efforts to make the ECoR the best zone in the Indian Railways.

Merit awards and shields were handed over to various officers and staffs for their outstanding performances. The Waltair Division received the Overall Efficiency Shield. The Visakhapatnam station received the Best Major Clean Station Shield and the Mahasamund station the Best Small Clean Station Shield.

Senior Deputy GM Debaraj Panda welcomed the guests and spoke o­n the importance of the Railway Week celebrations. Deputy GM Tatwadarsi Sahoor offered a vote of thanks.
