It’s shocking to learn that four police personnel allegedly looted Rs 3.02 lakh from a businessman in Bargarh district on the night of April 23.
A complaint in this regard was lodged by the businessman with the Bargarh Town police on Friday, following which a case was registered and three policemen were detained at the police station.
While a constable Hemant Das, SPO Durga Prasad and Home Guard Prashant Jena were detained, a sub-inspector Dhabaleswar Sahu, said to be the mastermind behind the act, has gone absconding, reports said.
As per the complaint filed by Sudhir Khatri, a Chhattisgarh-based scrap businessman, two policemen in plainclothes intercepted him at the Barahagoda tollgate for checking while he was on his way to Jajpur on April 23.
Khatri was later taken to a police outpost by the cops where they were joined by two other coops who tortured him both mentally and physically. The policemen later took away Rs 3.02 lakh from him and asked him to leave the place, he alleged. later, the victim met in-charge district Superintendent of Police Asish Singh who ordered the Town police to probe the incident.
“A case has been registered into the incident under Section 394 of IPC. Investigation into the matter is on,” said Bargarh Town police station IIC Rajkishore Mishra.
