Rs 1435.83 crore being spent under SC sub plan

Shimla: A sum of Rs  1435.83 crore is being spent during this year under scheduled caste sub plan in the state, said Director Scheduled Caste, other backward classes and minorities Department Sandeep Bhatnagar, while reviewing various welfare schemes being implemented by the department. He directed the officers to ensure effective and timely implementation of various welfare schemes which have been aimed at benefiting the weaker sections of the society. He also asked them to spend the allotted budget within stipulated time period.

non-official members of DPRGCs nominated

Chandigarh: Haryana Government has nominated non-official members of District Public Relations and Grievances Committees (DPRGCs), Faridabad and Ambala with immediate effect. A spokesman said that Mukesh Chaudhary would be the nominated non-official member of DPRGC, Faridabad and Faquir Chand Rana of DPRGC, Ambala.

Harmanpreet to be honoured

Chandigarh: The Committee of Dronacharya DP Azad Foundation has decided to honour Harmanpreet Kaur, Arjun awardee in association with Chandigarh Golf Association at the CGA Golf Range on September 2. The committee has also decided to honour her coach YS Sodhi  on this occasion. Cash prizes alongwith mementos will be presented to both by CSR Reddy, president Chandigarh Golf Association.  The foundation was formed in 2013 in the memory of late legendary coach DP Azad who got the first Dronacharya award  in Cricket in 1988 and was instrumental in shaping the careers of many international and national level Cricket players.

legal awareness programme on mobile van

Chandigarh: Under the guidance of Justice SS Saron, Judge of Punjab & Haryana High Court-cum-executive chairman, Punjab legal Services Authority, the mobile van of Punjab legal Services Authority, has been scheduled to remain at district Mohali from August 29 to September 13. Through the van, the schemes of National legal Services Authority as well as Government beneficial schemes will be explained to the general public. The law students, para legal volunteers as well as the panel lawyers will go to different villages as well as schools for creating awareness about the free legal services.

Xoom offers higher send limits on Money Transfers

Chandigarh: Xoom, PayPal’s digital money transfer service, announced to introduce higher send limits along with better exchange rates. It said customers can now transfer up to $10,000 USD per transaction. This gives Indians the option of sending larger amounts of money per transaction, allowing them to make mortgage payments, personal investments, education loans payments or assist their families back home, a statement said.

Tejinder Kaur honoured for her efforts

Chandigarh: Tejinder Kaur, Senior Research Fellow of PGIMER Chandigarh, has been honoured with the State Award for her valuable social service rendered for the Welfare Rehabilitation and Community Development of leprosy affected persons and elimination of leprosy. The award was recently given to her by Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and she was presented Gold Medal, Shawl, Cheque of Rupees 11000 and certificate along with citation. Tejinder followed the footprints of her father Prem Singh and started working for the welfare, rehabilitation and community development of leprosy patients and elimination of leprosy in Punjab and Chandigarh in 2001. She served as President of leprosy Elimination Society Mohali and Rehabilitation Secretary of leprosy Welfare Mission Chandigarh.
