Man who bumped off undertrial at Rohini court held

Tuesday, 13 June 2017 | Kanika Mehta | New Delhi

Two months after a 38-year-old undertrial was shot dead  by two people, including a juvenile, on the premises of the Rohini court on April 29, the Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have arrested one of the main accused in the murder. Rajesh Dhurmut, a member of the Neeraj Bawana gang, was gunned down by the two persons at the behest of the sharpshooters of Neetu Dabodia gang, Narender and Satish.

Sleuths of Special Staff of the Rohini district on June 10 had received a tip-off that Narender and Satish will be coming to the Japanese Park to meet one of their associates. Based on this information, the Special Staff laid a trap and managed to nab Narender while Satish fled from the spot.

On April 29, Rajesh Dhurmut — wanted in more than 16 cases of robbery, murder and dacoity — was being ferried by the Haryana Police from Jhajjar jail to the Rohini court.

During investigation, police had managed to arrest one of the shooters, Mohit who disclosed that he did not know Rajesh personally, but was paid to kill him by Narender, a sharpshooter of the Neetu Dabodia gang. Mohit said his friend, Satish, helped him identify Rajesh, and his job was just to open fire on him. According to police, the two men had been waiting outside the court for Rajesh to arrive.

Police sources said besides the two bike-borne assailants, three to four more people, including Narendra, were at the spot, inside an Hyundai i20 car, when the incident took place.

Bawana’s uncle, a former sarpanch, was shot dead outside Jhajjar court complex on March 22. Rajesh, police said, was a member of slain gangster Neetu Dabodia’s gang.

The rivalry between these two gangs, police had earlier said, was the reason behind Dhurmut’s murder.

Police further said that Narender was present at the spot when Mohit along with the juvenile opened fire at Rajesh.
