The second girls hostel of THDC Institute of Hydro Power Engg & Technology, Tehri Garhwal, was inaugurated jointly by Rajeev Sharma, CMD, Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), and RST Sai, CMD, THDC India limited (THDCIl) on Saturday. DV Singh, Director (Technical), THDC was also present on this occasion.
The approximate expenditure on this hostel is Rs5.27 crore out of which REC has contributing Rs4 crore. This hostel is constructed under the head of CSR activities in which there are 53 rooms and 159 students can reside in it. The hostel will give special benefits to those students of Uttarakhand who are economically backward.
THDC India limited has taken an important step by establishing this Engineering College in Tehri so that the long time demand have been fulfilled for pursuing technical education in this backward district of Uttarakhand. This college will benefit the students of Tehri district of Uttarkhand as well as other states of the country. It is a constituent college of Uttarakhand Technical University. There are 5 no. of branches in which total no. of 1200 students are pursuing technical education. First batch of this institute have been passed out in the year 2015.
CP Bhatia, General manager (REC), SR Mishra, General Manager(S&E), OS Maurya, General Manager(Tehri Complex), Muhar Mani, General Manager (Stage-I), Chinnapan Bhaskar, Officiating Director (THDCIHET) and other senior officers of THDCIl were present to make it a grand success.
