Tension at MKCG as students assault scribe

Tension ran high at the MKCG Medical College here late on Friday night as a photojournalist, Sunil Sahu, was assaulted by some students of the medical college.

Sources said two serious patients had come to the hospital in the night. The students in inebriated conditions abused the attendants of the patients in filthy language and later assaulted them.

Being informed, three journalists, including Sahu, reached the spot and started taking photographs of the medical students troubling everyone at the hospital casualty.  The students abused them and started beating Sahu. They also snatched away a gold chain form his neck and broke the phone, he had used to take photo.

later, three separate FIRs were lodged at the BNPur police station in this connection. When the news surfaced, members of the Brahmapur Press Club met SP Sarthak Sarangi, who assured the journalists to take action in this regard and arrest the culprits soon.

Meanwhile, the inhuman act by the medical students has been strongly condemned by intellectuals, newsmen and the general public.
