Suraaj Dal smells police-politician nexus in Kachchhap's case

Thursday, 23 June 2016 | PNS | Ranchi

A local political outfit Bharatiya Suraaj Dal (BSD) today alleged that a nexus of senior police officials and local politicians has claimed slain Topchanchi SHO Umesh Kachchhap’s life. Demanding a probe from independent agency like Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from the government, BSD President and former IPS PK Siddharth said that Kachchhap’s is not a case of suicide, but it is a clear murder.

After his visit with fellow party members on Monday and Tuesday this week to the Topchanchi Police Station in Dhanbad where Kachchhap was SHO and was found hanging in his room, Siddharth also demanded a second post mortem of Kachchhap. He said that changing the facts of post mortem report by government doctors under severe pressure of politicians and administration could never be ruled out in present circumstances. That’s why a second post mortem by doctors chosen by family members was the need of the case so that truth prevailed at last, he said.

Siddharth blamed that local Deputy SP Manzrul Hoda was a shady police officer and Hariharpur Police Station SHO Santosh Rajak was the one who has allegedly murdered an ASI. He also alleged both of having closed relations with animal smugglers. He accused that both the officials were responsible of mentally torturing and killing an honest and Adiwasi police officer Kachchhap.

He added that the party will request the opposition in Assembly to raise the issue of dual post mortem like it happens in England and to force the government to come up with a constitution amendment at state level, so that facts of post mortem reports couldn’t be compromised in cases like this.

Siddharth said, “Our demand from government for a CBI inquiry of the death of Kachchhap is based on the fact that a nexus between senior police officials and local politicians of ruling party has already surfaced in the case. A local MlA has said it on record by inviting a press conference that he and his party leaders locally were standing firm in support of those ‘tainted’ police officials.
