SP begins campaign against BSP

Sunday, 31 January 2016 | PNS | Lucknow

Even as the UP assembly polls are a year away, the ruling SP has stepped up its campaign against arch rival Bahujan Samaj Party. The SP alleged with the pollls nearing, the BSP is desperately searching for a new mascot to win the support of Muslims and Dalits.

“During her days in office, Mayawati ignored and humiliated the dalits and Muslims. She has suddenly found love and respect for both communities. People have been victim of her autocratic and dictatorial functioning and they would never repeat their mistake of supporting her yet another term,’’ opined SP spokesman Rajendra Choudhary.

The SP leader alleged that the BSP in the last two decades has carried out politics by joining hands with the Congress and the BJP. ``The BSP claims to be the messiah of the dalits and oppose the upper caste. But during previous BSP regimes, it was the manuvadis who ruled the roost,’’ said he.

Claiming that the BSP is least concerned about dalits and deprived sections of the society, Chaudhary said, “Mayawati has so far maintained a studied silence on atrocities against dalits in Haryana and Rajasthan. Even on the suicide of Hyderabad student Rohit Vemula, Mayawati preferred to issue a statement instead of visiting the bereaved family.’’

The SP spokesman pointed out that Mayawati had promised to provide reservation in government jobs to Muslims but she conveniently forgot it once she took over as CM.

Chaudhary charged that the periodic statements against the PM by Mayawati are merely gimmicks and carry little conviction with the masses. He alleged that soon after the Godhra riots in 2002, Mayawati had campaigned for Modi in Ahmedabad and other cities of Gujarat.

Accusing Mayawati of pursuing an anti-development agenda, Chaudhary alleged that instead of hailing development works in UP, she has only made fun of the important projects implemented by SP regime.’’
