The 35th annual meeting of the Ganjam District Retired Government Employees’ Association (GDRGEA) was held here on Friday. Association working president EKB Patra presided over the meeting, where Higher Education Minister Pradeep Panigrahi was the chief guest.
The Minister said the State Government is aware of the problems of its retired employees and all-out efforts would be made to resolve the genuine issues of the employees.
The retired employees demanded that that necessary correction be made in pension and other post-retirement benefits and amenities to avoid discrepancies and anomalies before implementation of the 7th Pay Commission. Association general secretary Rash Behari Das highlighted the other demands that include increase in concession rate in ticket prices for all modes of transport to 50 per cent, early handover of acquired land for construction of the association’s office, exemption of retired employees from paying users fee, medical allowance and free health insurance scheme for them and increase in grade pay and pension.
local MlA Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik joined the meeting as chief speaker while BJD district president Subash Maharana, eminent orthopedic surgeon Prof KM Pathi and Prof PC Sahu were present as guests of honour.
