DRM Deepak Kashyap opened the ‘Rail Humsafar Saptah’ by cleaning platforms of Ranchi Railway Station using automated cleaning machines with representatives of Ram Krishna Mission on Thursday.
On the inaugural day, cadets of Scouts and Guides sensitised people visiting Ranchi Railway Station to keep the premises clean. Similar drives were conducted at Hatia and Muri railway stations too in collaboration with railway officials and representatives of social service organisations.
The Week is observed to elaborate the reach of Indian Railways among its passengers and the services extended to them through various themes for each of the seven days.
The theme for the first day was Cleanliness Day, followed by Hospitality Day (May 27), Service Day (May 28), Vigilance Day (May 29), Harmony Day (May 30), Composition Day (May 31) and Communication Day (June 1).
Kashyap and other officials also inspected 10 trains to take stock of the cleanliness in them and invited suggestions from 100 passengers.
These suggestions are to be implemented in coming days and complaints related to cleanliness of trains will be attended to immediately.
On Hospitality Day this Friday, the catering arrangements and drinking water availability will be monitorised at major stations and trains.
