Pvt school defies Govt closure notice

Saturday, 30 April 2016 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Despite the State Government announcing summer vacation for all Government and private schools across the State, various private schools have paid no heed to the order and kept their schools open, putting young students and kids to difficulty due to the heat wave conditions.

On Friday, a girl student of a private English medium school fell unconscious and was admitted at the hospital due to dehydration in Baripada.

Priyanka Pradhan, a student of Baripada-based St Annie Convent School, fell unconscious due to severe heat conditions in the classroom. She was immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital at Baripada, where she was diagnosed with low blood pressure and dehydration caused due to the heat wave.

“The school authorities have not suspended classes as per the Government direction. They have asked us to send children to schools without uniforms on the plea of an early completion of syllabus. Today, our child fell unconscious due to scorching heat,” said a relative of the girl.

Many private school authorities across the State have been bringing their students by school buses daily to complete the syllabus.

Several schools including Delhi Public School, St Xavier and St Anne Convent School have defied the Government order.

The Government had on Monday announced an advance summer vacations in schools from April 26. Schools would reopen after the Raja festival in the third week of June, as usual.
