Governor Ram Naik during his meeting with President Pranab Mukherjee in Delhi on Tuesday, urged him to expedite the process of filling the vacancy of judges in the Allahabad High Court.
The Governor apprised the President that againat sanctioned 160 posts of judges in Allahabad High Court as many as 83 were vacant which was adversely affecting judicial work.
Naik said that due to the large number of vacancies in the Allahabad high court not only was the disposal of the pending cases being delayed but the pendency was also mounting as new petitions were being filed.
The Governor was in Delhi on Tuesday to participate in the meeting annual general meeting of the Indian Red Cross Society and St Johns Ambulance India. The President is the ex officio chairman of both bodies and the Governors of states are ex-officio heads of the state unit of the Red Cross.
