law and order top priority: Badal

Thursday, 26 May 2016 | PNS | Jalandhar

Considering the recent incidents of crimes, latest being attack on the Sikh preacher Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday said that law and order in the state would be maintained at all costs and no violation will be allowed.

Badal, while interacting with the media persons on the side-lines of his Sangat Darshan programme at Uggi village in Nakodar assembly constituency, said that the state government is fully seized of the matter and he is personally keeping a close tab over the current situation.

He said that 14 persons have been nabbed till now related to incident of alleged attempt on the life of Baba Dhadrianwale, and investigations are on. “I prefer not to say anything beyond this as it would be highly unethical or improper on my part to divulge any detail on this crucial stage which could either influence or hamper the enquiry,” he added.

Hitting out at Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh, Badal said that leaders like him should refrain from issuing “provocative statements on such sensitive matter, which could otherwise be detrimental to the peaceful and congenial atmosphere in the State”.
