Guv refuses for any constitutional crisis in the govt

Saturday, 31 December 2016 | PNS | Lucknow

Despite opposition parties demanding imposition of President’s rule in the state following expulsion of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav from the party for six years, Governor Ram Naik said that there is no constitutional crisis in the government.

“What ever has happened is the internal matter of a political party. I am not the right person to comment on this. I can only say that there is no constitutional crisis in the state,” Naik told The Pioneer on Friday.

He said that he will intervene “when required.” Naik said: “I am keeping a watch on the development.”

Constitutional experts say that as CM is elected by legislature party unless new leader is elected the earlier continues to be the Chief Minister. In this case Yadav would continue to be the Chief Minister till new person is elected as legislature party leader.

Raj Bhawan sources told The Pioneer that Chief Minister has so far not asked for any appointment to meet Governor.
