The Rashtriya lok Dal (RlD) got a shot in its arm when a Samajwadi leader and former two-time legislator Ganpat Singh joined party in presence of party state president Dr Masood Ahmad here on Friday.
Singh was legislator in 1989 and 1993 and had defeated Fateh Badur Singh, son of former Chief Minister, Vir Bahadur Singh, twice in Paniaya constituency in Maharajganj.
Dr Masood said that leaders have joined party because the popularity of the RlD is on the rise. It is the only party that has fought for the rights of the farmers and the poor. When poor are suffering because of demonetisation the RlD questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The agriculture economy is at tatters because Modi’s decision to cull high value currency notes has hit the purchasing power of the farmers. They do not have money to buy fertilisers and seeds. This will impact Rabi crop adversally,” Dr Masood said.
