Durg district hospital gets 100 extra beds

The State Health and Family Welfare Department has upgraded the Durg district hospital to a 500–bed facility from its present capacity of  400 beds.

The department has also approved 127 new posts for hospital staff with the upgradation of the bed capacity in the hospital, officials informed. It may also be recalled that the Chhattisgarh Government has decided to establish civil hospitals in old and new Raipur.

The proposed hospitals to be established in Naya Raipur besides Mathpuraina and Gudhiyari in old Raipur will be of 100 bed capacity each, officials stated. Such hospitals will be set up in other parts of the State in due course. In all the Government hospitals, `100 per day will be spent on food for patients instead of `60. A total of 2400 beds will be arranged in Government hospitals of the State. CM Raman Singh has made necessary provisions in the current fiscal budget of 2016-17 for this purpose, officials stated.
