Saturday, 02 April 2016 | PNS | Chandigarh

Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal on Friday gave nod to complete the process of filling backlog of 1084 posts within a month in various departments of the State Government reserved for visually impaired candidates.

A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister during a meeting with delegation of National Federation of Blind, who called on him under the leadership of its state president Vivek Monga at Punjab Bhawan.

The CM asked Principal Secretary Social Security to coordinate with every department and ensure that this process was completed at the earliest.

Badal was apprised by Secretary Welfare that they had already called the applications in this regard by issuing advertisements, which have been sent to the concerned departments. He said that the recruitment for Class ‘A’ posts would be done by the Punjab Public Service Commission whereas for all the other categories the recruitment would be completed within a month.

Acceding to another demand of the delegation, the Chief Minister asked the Principal Secretary Education to put the 162 posts of JBT teachers back in the category of Hobby teachers, so that visually impaired candidates could be benefitted from it.

He asked the department to conduct the recruitment on these posts within three months.

Badal also directed the Secretary to revive 12 posts of teachers in Government School for Blind at Jamalpur (ludhiana) so that visually impaired candidates could get jobs on one hand and to provide quality education to the students on other.
