Amit Shah to sound election bugle of Himachal at Solan meet

Saturday, 10 December 2016 | Kamal Joshi | Shimla

Following the maxim ‘it’s the early bird that catches the prey’, the BJP is all set to sound the election bugle in Himachal Pradesh almost a year before the assembly polls in the State.

Even as the BJP government at the Centre appears to be skating on thin ice following its demonetization decision, the party has made it clear that it is going to bet on its grassroot level workers in the next Assembly polls.

BJP national president Amit Shah’s plans of holding four massive meetings with the grassroot level BJP workers in the State is the first step in the direction. The party conferences being named 'Tridev Sammelan will start with the first in the series to be held in Solan on Sunday.

As the party tries to regain power it lost to the Congress some four years back, Prime Minister Narendra Modi too is expected to visit to the State in the beginning of 2017 to boost the party's prospects for  ‘Mission-50 Plus’  in the next year’s Vidhan Sabha poll.  The developments make it clear that Himachal is next on BJP agenda after Punjab and UP.

Shah will formally launch the pre-poll campaign of the BJP workers to propagate the misdeeds and poor governance of Congress government. Over 6,000 booth level functionaries are expected to attend the day-long 'Tridev Sammelan' at historic Thodo ground at Solan.

Talking to media, State BJP spokesman and MlA from Nahan, Rajeev Bindal said that Shah would guide the Booth level functionaries on various political and organisational aspects and future planning to corner ruling Virbhadra Singh Government in public.

Bindal also said while the Tridev Sammelans are exclusively planned for Booth level functionaries, Shah may also take a meeting qith BJP core group.

Divulging the details of Tridev Sammelan, Himachal BJP vice president, Ganesh Dutt said the party has planned four such meetings to be held at the four Parliamentary constituency areas. Each to be addressed by Amit Shah.

Dutt added that BJP is focussing its poll strategy on the grass root level, and party will depute its representatives at each page of the electoral list page, to be finalised by the Election Commission.
