Mohalla clinic at Rohini gets locals' praise

The mohalla clinic located at Sector-16, Rohini has turned out to be a blessing for the residents of the area. Not only the poor but patients from middles class also visit this clinic to seek treatment for their ailments.

The Pioneer on Monday visited the mohalla clinic and found that majority of patients were satisfied with the healthcare services being provided to them. Most of the patients were from the middle class families.

Mohalla clinic at Rohini, functioning to its capacity, has been catering to elderly citizens too. Residents said they are saved from the hassles of travelling to hospitals and paying fat bills.

“I am a diabetic patient and it’s my second visit here. I find it convenient to come here as this clinic is very near to my residence,” said Triptha, a visitor to the clinic.

Another patient Kulwant Kaur (75), said, “I have been prescribed with some medical tests from Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital. I am not in a state to stand and wait in long queues in Government hospitals, so I think mohalla clinics are the best option for senior citizens like me.”

“I attend approximately 60-70 patients a day. Patients from all age groups are being treated here. The clinic facilitates them with free medication,” Dr Rachna Kashyap, physician at the clinic told The Pioneer.

Patients expressed satisfaction over the way doctors treat them at Rohini mohalla clinic. “Since this mohalla clinic is in the neighbourhood, it saves me from hassles of going to a Government hospital,” said another elderly woman who had come to get herself examined for knee pain.

It may be noted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led Government has started mohalla clinics as part of thier ‘three-tier public health system’. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced to open 1,000 mohalla clinics across the city to cater to the health needs of the citizens.
