Taking cue from the Aam Aadmi Party in the last Delhi elections, a new political forum has been launched in Paradip in view of the elections to the Paradip Municipality to be held on April 7. The forum, Paradip Pragati Parisad (PPP), has been floated by prominent trade union leader Santosh Kumar Pattanaik with the party having fielded 12 candidates for the civic body polls. Paradip Pragati Parisad president Santosh Kumar Pattanaik released a 12-point poll manifesto of the PPP at a Press conference here on Sunday. He claimed that the PPP would be able to win the elections and form the next council to provide better services compared to the other political parties, which have failed in all aspects for last several years. The PPP would ensure corruption-free administration for people, he added.
All PPP candidates were present at the Press meet. The election manifest promised pollution-free environment in and around the port town, permanent houses for slum dwellers, piped drinking water supply, electricity for all slum dwellers, toilets in all wards and bus service in all wards, a specialised hospital, sewerage and drainage facilities in slums, employment generation for local jobless youths, financial assistance to talented poor students and better cooperation with the Paradip Port Trust, etc.
