State Congress staged a protest against the recent hike in power tariff on Monday. They also handed over a memorandum in this regard to the chairman of the State Electricity Regulatory Authority, Desh Deepak Verma, threatening for a massive demonstration if the hike would be not rolled back immediately.
Agitated with the power tariff hike by the State government, hundred of Congress leaders collected at Party’s state head-quarter in Mall Avenueon Monday afternoon. Raising slogans against the government for making the above, the leaders marched till the main road and had burnt the effigy of the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.
later in the evening, a delegation of Congress led by chairman of the Media Cell of UPCC, Satyadeo Tripathi, handed over a memorandum to Desh Deepak Verma, chairman of SERA. Spokesman of the UPCC, Siddharth Priya Srivastavai said that they warned the Authority that if the hike would be not rolled back immediately than they would come on road and staged a massive demonstration to press them demand of with drawing the power hike.
Srivastava said that after the Samajwadi Party government came to power, they make power hike almost every year and the prices of power had already increased by more than 60 percent than what they were in 2012 when Akhilesh Yadav came in power. Meanwhile, Siddhi Shree, spokes person of UP Mahila Congress Committee, claimed that the women wing of the Party, would staged a demonstration under their state president, Pratima Singh, on coming Wednesday.
