Chief Secretary, Alok Ranjan directed the senior administrative officials to take the matter of communal sensitive very seriously and visit the spot to resolve the issue before it would take an ugly turn. He also asked to take the property related disputes on top priority as it turned out to a prime motive behind many criminal incidents in the State and present wrong picture of the State on law and order front. Besides, Ranjan also asked the officers to take necessary steps to ensure peaceful panchayat elections.
Interestingly the review was made by Ranjan just a day ahead of the retirement of state director general of police, AK Jain, the officer directly responsible for maintaining law and order of the State. It may be also mentioned that the State level review was also made after a long gap.
Reviewing law & order situation and development of the State here on Monday morning, Ranjan, in presence of DGP, AK Jain, principal secretary (Home), Dewasheesh Panda, and other senior officers, said that the additional SP and deputy SP rank officers must made inspection of at lease one police station every month during which they must review the progress made in investigation of sensational crimes as well as action taken by the local police to round-up listed gangsters and hardened criminals. He claimed that the government had provided at least two four-wheelers at every police station to improve the response time of reaching the spot of any crime.
Hailing the working of Special Task Force and Anti-Terrorists Squad (ATS), Ranjan said that the divisional commissioner of Meerut, Bareilly and Agra should keep a tap on law and order situation by making periodical review of the prevailing situation. Chief Secretary also directed the officials to remain on their toes to maintain peace during on-going month of Ramazan and coming festival seasons like Shrawan, Raksha Bandhan, Navratri etc and also the proposed Panchayat elections.
Showing his concern over pending matters of revenue realisation cases in the State, Ranjan directed the officers concerned that they should complete it on top priority and take appropriate legal action against the defaulters. To improve the quality of education, Ranjan directed the district magistrates and officers of the Education Department to ensure hundred percent attendance of the teachers in the schools and colleges. He also asked that at least two government schools should provide trained teachers in the English language so that the students were able to complete any competition. He also revealed to have provided Rs 200 crore for provide proper infrastructure in government schools.
He also claimed that state government is committed to provide all help to farmers and disclosed that they already released Rs 350 crore to distribute compensation to the farmers against the loss they incurred on their crops due to un-seasonal rains. He directed the DMs to take stern action against the employees who created hurdle in distribution of relief package to the farmers. He also stressed on maintain quality in construction of houses under lohia Awas Yojna and claimed that by 2019, the government would provide toilet at every house in the State to ensure that no one should go in open to attend call of nature. He also revealed many welfare schemes taken to attract children in taking up education and claimed that they would be also provided milk along with mid-day meal in all primary level schools from July 15 onwards.
Directing the officials to take stern action against those officers who were not taking interest to implement government’s policy or making delay in forwarding help and welfare programmes to the targeted class. He said that such officials who were taking lease interest in implementing government policies should be identified and punished and those officials who are on contract, their retainership should be cancelled. Besides, Ranjan, Jain and Panda, the meeting was also attended by chairman of Board of Revenue, AK Gupta, Agriculture Production Commissioner, all divisional commissioners, district police chiefs, range DIGs and Zonal IGs etc.
