Sunday, 11 October 2015 | PNS | SAMBALPUR

The Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) authorities submitted the postmortem report of the woman Judicial Magistrate, who died after child delivery on Wednesday, to police on Saturday.

On Friday, police had asked the VIMSAR authorities to constitute a medical board to probe if the death was due to medical negligence.

“The medical board would ascertain the cause of death and inquire whether the Judicial Magistrate Champabati Hati died due to medical negligence. The police would act according to their report,” said Additional Superintendent of Police SK Panigrahi.

Hati’s husband Amulya Badi had lodged a complaint at the Ainthapali police station alleging that his wife died due to medical negligence. Subsequently, the police registered a case in this regard and initiated inquiry.

Though the expected date of delivery of child was October 15, the doctor performed the C-Section eight days before, Badi alleged and added, “Sheer negligence of the doctor killed my wife.”

Hati, who was from Bargarh, died after delivering her second son on Wednesday. She also has a four-year old son.

She was posted as the First Class Judicial Magistrate here.
