Henceforth, the Odisha Public Service Commission would hold examinations for various civil services posts every year. The State Cabinet meeting held under chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik gave its nod in this regard on Saturday.
Briefing mediapersons, Chief Secretary GC Pati said some of the suggestions of the OPSC have been accepted and accordingly there would be negative marking on wrong answers to objective questions. One-fourth of value of a question would be deducted if the answer is found incorrect, he said, adding that the OPGC examiniations would be conducted every year. For this, the Civil Service Combined Recruitment Rule would be changed.
Earlier, the OPSC exams were being conducted once in seven/eight years.
The Cabinet also approved 13 other proposals which include Asian Development Bank (ADB) funding for the Skill Development Project, JICA funding for an irrigation project and the MSME Procurement Policy.
While the Asian Development Bank would fund for the Odisha Skill Development Project, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) would provide financial assistance for completion of left canal system of the Rengali irrigation project.
The ADB will fund around Rs 662 crore for the Skill Development Project where as JICA will give Rs 1,787 crore to make provision of irrigation facility over an area of about 40,000 hectares of land.
