As per local MP RK Jena, Baleswar would have a series of railway projects under the South Eastern Railway (SER). Among the several improvements, the district could see four new railway over-bridges of the 14 to be built in the State.
Jena held a discussion with the General Manager, SER Division, on Tuesday at its headquarters at Garden reach where also the heads of technical and commercial wings of the division participated.
The bridges as per decision would be in lC 45, lC 52, lC 79 and lC 80 respectively in Jaleswar-laxmannath road, Amarda road-Jaleswar, Baleswar yard and Baleswar- Nilgiri.
Jena, besides batting for a rail corridor for north Odisha, also stressed on converted an unmanned level crossing near Betnoti market to a manned one as it remained closed after railway made a loop line.
Jena said the authorities have agreed to a stoppage of Duranto express and Howrah - SSPN express at the Baleswar station and at least a south and a north bound express train stoppage in Jaleswar. Besides, they agreed to consider increasing number of reserve seat in Baleswar for Dhauli express and stoppage of the train at Rupsa station, Jena stated.
The running of a passenger train to Nilgiri from Baleswar would take some time as it requires `25 crore for construction of platforms and signaling system, he said further.
