Police uniform is not just an attire but it embodies trust of the people in the law- enforcers, said DIG Satish Shukla who retired on Friday.
His book ‘Aas Pass’ was released in a programme held at police line where senior police officers were present. Additional director general of police (law and order) Anil Kumar Raturi presented a literary elucidation of the stories that the book contains.
Shukla has highlighted some social and legal facets of rural India and suggested some solutions too in the stories, he said.
Uttarakhand DGP BS Sidhu who released the book in the presence of former State DGP AB lal and IAS Usha Shukla and some educationalists, said that a senior police officer remaining busy in his policing engagements can do such a thing if he has an overpowering passion for creativity.
Executing policing works and writing such fine literary stuffs endowed with rare insights simultaneously is a rare feat. “Shukla exemplifies the passion,” he said.
Earlier, two books - ‘Kahani Sangrah’ and ladki Jeet Gai- written by Shukla were released by then Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi in 2013. In 2014, he had released another ‘Itti si Baat’ in 2014.
His colleagues said he had participated enthusiastically in cultural and other programmers organised by the police department in the past.
The speakers lauded his contribution in the arenas of literature and policing. Shukla sounded grateful for senior police officers and police personnel for helping him execute his duties. He was given memento on the occasion.
Shukla had earlier said that the people of the country expect a lot from the system. “The system is riddled with both shortcomings and advantages. You have two options: either you use the system to serve the people or use it for self-aggrandizement. The choice is yours,” he added.
