A workshop at Telangana’s Warangal district has inspired a group of women hailing from insurgency infested Dantewada district.

Talking to the District Collector Amit Kataria on Friday, they expressed their desire to set up Gram Sangathan on the lines of Warangal district.

Notably, the workshop was organised by Maha Samakhya Society wherein the women noticed that the Women Self-Help Groups of Warangal do not rely on banks. They rather possess property worth several lakhs of rupees.

One of the local participants, Parvati said the workshop has strengthened their will power. Highlighting on the topics, she said it included field visits and understanding of case studies.

Women in Warangal work in Gram Sangathan wherein they are initially represented at the block level and later at the district level.

The Dantewada based women are now mulling to take up vegetable farming. Kataria assured to arrange for training on organic farming techniques and various kinds of vegetable farming.

Some women complained of water crisis to which the Collector suggested them for construction of puddles under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNGREGA) in order to overcome such problems.
