CAFC decries Sangram Mohanty's re-arrest

Saturday, 31 January 2015 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

The Campaign Against Fabricated Cases (CAFC), an organisation which fights for human rights of common people, has condemned the police for re-arresting Maoist interlocutor Dandapani Mohanty’s son Sangram who was out on bail after the Supreme Court’s order. CAFC convener Narendra Mohanty and adviser Biswapriya Kanungo said the re-arrest has violated human rights and fundamental rights of a person who was returning home after getting bail from the court.

Kanungo and Mohanty urged the activists and members of human rights bodies, political outfits and social organisations to defend the State Government’s autocratic behaviour. Though the court has acquitted Sangram’s father Dandapani in 19 cases, the State Police have been registering false cases against the activist, he added. The CAFC members demanded justice to the family members of Sangram and immediate release from the prison.
