BJP criticizes state govt

Tuesday, 31 March 2015 | PNS | Lucknow

The day Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav assured all help to the farmers, the state unit of BJP criticized government for ignoring the plights of farmers saying those who lost their crop in unseasonal rains are yet to get their compensation despite clear cut directions from the government. “The farmers are facing the brunt of the misrule of Samajwadi Party Government. The cane farmers are yet to get their dues while the farmers who lost their crop during rains are yet to get compensation despite directions of the government that they should get it by March 27,’ BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said here on Monday.

He said over Rs 9500 crore of cane farmers is due. Despite High Court directive that mills should close after crushing of all available cane, majority of the mills have closed down without crushing cane and farmers are running helter-skelter with their cane. “The unseasonal rains have destroyed potato, linseed and wheat. Over a dozen farmers have committed suicide. Chief Minister had assured Rs 7 lakh compensation to the kin of the farmers who committed suicide but till date not a single penny has been paid on this count,” he said.

Pathak said during election campaign Samajwadi party leadership had claimed that it would launch pro-farmer schemes. But once SP came to power it has forgotten Kisan. “The Government seems so helpless that it is yet to fulfill the promise it had made to pay compensation to farmers who lost their crop by March 27. This shows the insensitive face of the Government,” he said.
