The holy city of Amritsar is all set to witness operations of world-renowned Turkish Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) by the end of November. For, the construction of exclusive bus stations under this project has been started which would further decrease congestion from the busy areas of the city.
The construction on this ambitious Rs491 crore project is in full swing, which would have dedicated bus tracks in major congested areas of the city.
This project would also encourage tourism in this holy city once completed, said a spokesperson.
He said that this project would be completed as per international standards where 31-kilometre long exclusive and dedicated route was under construction for the buses to be run under BRTS.
The project would set the stage for hassle-free travel to important places like Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Guru Nanak Dev University and Khalsa Collage.
The spokesperson informed that construction for bridges and widening of roads was on advanced stage of completion and design of buses has already been decided by the PIDB.
