Two popular books written by Alice Ekka were further edited and presented by social activist and tribal writer Vandana Tete here on Sunday in the presence of several dignitaries. The story collections unveil the life, culture and tradition of indigenous population.
Alice Ekka ki Kahaniya written by several other writers including Tete and ‘Aadivasi- Darshan and Shahitya are edited keeping in view the present scenario and condition of tribal people. “The stories collection of Alice Ekka is relevant in the contemporary period. These collections presents wider vision of society and can also help in renewal of tribal culture and tradition,” said Vandana Tete.
Focusing on the vital issues of tribal culture, Vice-Principal of St. Xavier’s College Peter Paul Ekka said, “Every time we get some or the other important aspect in the collection of stories written by Alice Ekka. It is worth important to mention that her collection reflects the essence of famous writer Munshi Premchandra.”
Alex Ekka was the first tribal writer to focus on various fundamental tribal issues and first tribal women to complete her graduation in English. Arinima Birjia, Maya Prasad, Sakuntala Mishra, Rose Kerketta, Shishir Dudu, Vinod Kumar were present in the event.
