Ambikapur-based Agriculture Science Centre has bagged a national award from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for previous year.
Chief Minister Raman Singh and State Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal congratulated the farmers , officials of Agriculture Science Centre, Ambikapur and Agriculture University scientists, officers-employees for the prestigious National award.
The Agriculture Centre was honoured for its outstanding services in the field of agriculture. The Centre is under the jurisdiction of the Indira Gandhi Agriculture University (IGAU), Raipur. Union Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh honoured the Ambikapur-based Agriculture Science Centre at the two-day National seminar of the Agriculture Science Centres in Patna.

The Science Centre at Ambikapur that operates for the past 20 years at tribal-dominated Surguja district, conferred for encouraging farmers to adopt modern technology in agriculture and taking lab to the land in the remote areas of the district.
The IGAU officials said that the Kendra had increased crop output by adopting traditional methods and modern technology. Several Governmental organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations have co-operated with the Agriculture Science Centre in implementing better methods in farming practices.
The farmers have been encouraged to go for pulses ,oil seeds and vegetables' crops apart from hybrid Makka crops. large number of agriculture scientists, Directors of 642 , Vice-Chancellors of Agriculture Science Centres, various Agriculture Universities and top officers participated in the seminar.
