As part of a special campaign by Haryana Government to check quality of food items in the state, 1,758 food samples were collected till May, out of which 220 have failed the test.
Haryana Mission Director National Health Mission (NHM) S Naryanan on Friday said that the campaign was being run throughout the State on the direction of Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij to ensure quality of food items.
Giving details, he said that out of the total 119 samples collected from district Ambala, four have failed. Similarly, 48 samples were collected from Bhiwani, out of which eight failed. Out of 147 samples collected from district Faridabad, 21 failed; 82 samples were collected from Fatehabad out of which 22 failed; 154 samples were collected from Gurgaon out of which 24 failed.
likewise, the samples were also collected from districts of Hisar, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Mewat, Palwal, Mahendergarh, Rohtak, Sirsa and Panchkula, with some failing the tests.He said that 66 samples were collected from district Hisar out of which 10 failed and 45 were collected from district Jhajjar out of which eight failed.
Six samples failed out of 57 samples collected from Jind, 116 were collected from Kaithal out of which 12 failed, 10 samples out of as many as132 samples collected from district Karnal failed. Similarly, 138 were collected from Kurukshetra out of which nine failed.
Eight samples failed out of 29 collected from Mahendergarh, six failed out of 26 samples from Mewat, nine failed out of 53 samples taken from district Palwal, two failed the test out of 90 samples collected from Panchkula and five failed out of 64 samples from district Panipat.
The Mission Director said that under the Drug Control Programme of Food and Drugs Administration in the State, 2,064 drug samples were received from Government analyst. Out of these 1,255 samples were declared as of standard quality whereas 22 samples were declared as of sub-standard quality.
