lions Club unveils drinking water facility
Bhubaneswar: A cool drinking water machine installed by the lions Club, Bhubaneswar for devotees at Bhajan Mandap here was inaugurated on the occasion of Sitala Sasthi on Friday. Culture Minister Ashok Panda inaugurated the facility in the presence of former Minister Suresh Kumar Routray, club president Bipini Bihari Nayak, Corporator Diptimayee Samarthi, social activist Pramod Mohapatra and Ekamra Sanskrutika Prakashani general secretary Sanat Mishra. The project was dedicated in the memory of club member late Ramakant Pradhan.
Jumbo tramples man to death in S’garh
Rourkela: A man died on Friday night while a tusker crushed him at Korabahal village of Kalunga GP in Sundargarh district under the Brahmani Tarang police station. Banabsi Oram(35) of Bargaon had come to his father-in-law’s house. While he was sleeping, an elephant herd of about ten entered the house to eat grains. A tusker lifted Oram, threw him to the ground and then crushed him to death. Repeated elephant attacks in the area have created panic among villagers.
Youth drowns in Brahmani at Bonei
Rourkela: A 20-year-old youth had watery grave at the lalei Ghat in Brahmani river at Bonei on Saturday morning. Ghesru Mahakud along with his younger had gone for bathing when the tragedy too place.
Child author Surajbhan gets Rajiv Puraskar
Bhubaneswar: Child author SN Surajbhan was felicitated with the Rajiv Gandhi Pratibha Puraskar at a function organised by the Odisha Rajiv Gandhi Students’ Forum on the occasion of the 24th death anniversary of the former Prime Minister here. A Class-IX student of the BJEM School, Surajbhan was selected for the award among kids for his active engagement in the field of literature. His two publications entitled Dare to Enter and Find Your Feet are widely recognised in the literary circle.
PF body holds event on UAN use at K’nagar
Jajpur: As part of its steps to provide doorstep delivery to subscribers, the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) organised an interactive session “PF at Your Doorstep” at the NINl, Kalinganagar in Jajpur district on Thursday. The programme was attended by industry representatives of the Kalinganagar Industrial Complex. EPFO Additional PF Commissioner New Delhi PK Udgata, and Regional PF Commissioner, Odisha PK. Mishra explained about various services. Udgata said aim of the programme is to familiarise subscribers with the Universal Account Number (UAN) through which benefits are available to them. Mishra told about various services for employers like online registration, electronic chalan deposits and deposits through internet banking system.
VFS Global showcases Citizen Services Centre
Bhubaneswar: The VFS Global on showcased its state-of-the-art Citizen Services Centre at Samantha Vihar here on Friday. The centre was inaugurated on December, 2014 for submission and assessment of building plan approvals and occupancy certificates. While the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has been making every effort to make Bhubaneswar one of the leading cities in the country, the VFS Global was appointed to introduce Citizen Services Centres and provide a professional and timely service to applicants.
