Three under trials, a man and two sons, were poisoned to death in police custody in Agra

In a bizarre case, three undertrials, a man and two sons, were poisoned to death in police custody in Agra. later taking serious congnizance of the matter, Senior Superintendent of Police, Shalabh Mathur, suspended all the five policemen –head consable, Jaiveer Singh, head constable promottee, Yogendra Singh, constables –Mansingh, Somendra, and Yogesh, accompanying the undertrials. A case was also registered in this regard and efforts were made to nab the accused.

Reports said that  Dinesh Chandra Soni(55) and his sons Yogesh (26) and Vishal (24) – all fell ill after eating the poisonous food (Puris) served by their kin (Opposite Party) when they were brought for trial at district court in Agra on Friday.  All the three were rushed  to hospital where Yogesh died on Friday night, while Dinesh and Vishal died on Saturday morning at the S N Medical college. 

later Dinesh’s wife Baby lodged a report against the accused which included lawyer Suresh Chandra Soni (Dinesh’s brother), Ramesh Chandra Soni, Narendra Pal Soni, Vijendra Pal Soni, Rohit Soni, Chandra Prakash Soni, Himanshu Soni, Shailendra Soni, all native of Bheemnagar in Agra. A case has been registered against them at New Agra police station, the SSP said.  The deceased were in jail since September 9, after they were arrested in connection with a case lodged by Suresh Chandra Soni, for making a murder attempt on him and his family members.

The case was lodged at Jagdishpur police station in Agra. On Friday, the lawyer went to meet the accused and on pretext of making a comprise, he gave puris to them and soon after they took it, they fell ill and later all the three died in hospital.

Meanwhile in a separate case reported from lakhimpur Kheri, two pilgrims were killed and 46 others were injured when their bus plunged into Katna river in Aonla area on Saturday morning. Reports said that the bus loaded with pilgrims from Gosaiganj of lucknow, were returning from Purnagiri in Uttarakhand and was going to Naimsharan in Sitapur district when the accident occurred.  Both the deceased died on the spot.   The injured were admitted to the hospital where condition of seven of then has been stated to be critical.
