Sun beats down on Punjab, Haryana as rain plays truant

With monsoon playing truant in the plains of Punjab and Haryana, hot weather conditions prevailed at most places in the two States on Saturday.

Hisar in Haryana sizzled at a high of 40°C, up three notches from normal.  Bhiwani, too, experienced a hot day at 39.8°C, up three notches while Narnaul braved the hot weather at 38°C. Ambala and Karnal also recorded above normal maximum temperatures at 36.2°C and 35.4°C, respectively.

Sultry weather prevailed in Chandigarh at 36°C, up two notches.

In Punjab, Patiala had a hot day at 37.6°C, up five notches while ludhiana’s maximum settled at 36.5°C, up two degrees than normal. Amritsar’s maximum settled at 35.2°C.
