The Star Plus has come up with another daily soap —Ek Hasina Thi, based on victory of the good over evil. One of the major characters of the serial, Rajnath Goenka aka Ayub Khan, was in the city of lakes on Wednesday.
Featuring Sanjeeda Sheikh as the protagonist of the serial, Ayub Khan along with Simone Singh and Vatsal Seth belongs to the rich and famous Goenka family based in Kolkata. While talking to media persons he highlighted the shades of his character, Rajnath Goenka. “I play Rajnath Goenka, husband of Sakshi Goenka and father of Shaurya Goenka. Rajnath basically is a strong, politically correct and a shrewd business man who wants to win business at any cost. It is what drives him,” says Ayub Khan.
Elaborating further, he said, “Power and position belong to ‘The Goenkas’ only. They rule Kolkata and its people, we change destinies with just one command, and audience will be amazed to see how people follow our rules and ways. They will go to any extreme to save their family from getting into trouble.”
“Moreover, Rajnath is very conscious of his image and tries to be one up his contemporaries even if it means doing wrong. His wife Sakshi has a strong hold on him due to a past that will be revealed later. She is the only one who holds his rein.”
While talking about the shade of his role, Ayub Khan said, “This is the first time that viewers are seeing me in a negative role and I think I am shedding away the fatherly figure I have created on small screen over the years.”
“Rajnath doesn’t know how to bow down except in front of his wife who is aware of all his secrets and doings. When you have two power houses like Star Plus and Cinevistaas joining forces you know that it’s definitely going to be backed by creativity and scale. So when they approached me with this role, I found it extremely challenging. There is something amiss which the viewers will find out ahead.”
As he talked about the show, he said, “Ek Hasina Thi is a show unlike one ever seen on Indian television. It is set in Kolkata and is about a woman Durga who is here to seek justice. Personally I found the concept and character interesting and immediately gave my approval.”
