With a view to strealline election preparations Samajwadi Party has set-up a 18-member state level steering committee in view of the nearing lok Sabha elections that would monitor the election preparedness.
The committee, to be headed by party's state unit president and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, includes senior minister Shivpal Singh Yadav, Bhagvati Singh, Om Prakash Singh, Balram Yadav, Ahmad Hassan, Ram Govind Chaudhary, Rajendra Chaudhary, Dr Rajpal Kashyap, Amitabh Bajpayee, Sunil Singh Yadav, Dr Madhu Gupta, Ram Sunder Das Nishad, Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, Dr Awadhnath Pal, P N Chauhan, Naresh Uttam and Ram Asrey Vishwakara as its members.
Yadav also made some changes in the organisational set-up. The committees in Hamirpur, Mahoba and Amroha have been dissolved barring the district presidents. The SP has nominated Mazharul Haq as the Kannauj district chief.
In Bahraich, the district executive committee has been dissolved. Yadav has nominated Ramtej Yadav as the district unit chief.Former SP district unit prsident of Mathura, Kishore Singh, and former MlC from Etah Harnath Singh Yadav have also been expelled for anti-party activities.
