The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), local unit, celebrated 66th foundation day on July 1 last. It was on this day in 1949 that the Chartered Accountants Act was enacted.
The ICAI is the second largest professional accounting body in the world in terms of membership. To mark the occasion, the local unit organized day long programme beginning with mini marathon, plantation drive, voluntary blood donation and distribution of food and educational kit among the Bhima Bhoi blind school students. Senior members SC Bhadra, AK Kar, NK Batra, B Kar, SK Paul and Y Pani were felicitated. A panel discussion on the ‘Role of CA in nationbuilding’ was held.
