Govt committed to people's welfare: Akhilesh

Friday, 31 January 2014 | Biswajeet/PNS | Lucknow

Claiming that Uttar Pradesh has done much better than Gujarat Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav said that Samajwadi Party believes in fulfilling promises and it had done the same by implementing record number of schemes in last two years.

"Our Government is pro-people. It has introduced many policies which are now being copied by other governments of the neighbouring states. Many new policies are on the anvil which again will be copied," Yadav said while addressing a rally in Firozabad here on Thursday.

He said that when his Government came to power people questioned our decision to distribute laptops among the class XII pass students. Once this scheme was implemented many political parties have mentioned free distribution of laptops among students in their election manifesto.

"Ours is a progressive government which works for the welfare of the people, farmers, students and women. Our government provided free water to farmers, waived off  farm loans worth Rs 50,000, re-introduced unemployment allowance and gave scholarship to girl students. Besides, Samajwadi Party Government has announced free X-ray facilities in the state-run hospitals and has taken steps to mitigate the sufferings of the poor," Chief Minister said.

Without naming anyone he said that attempt is being made to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of the state. Religion is fulcrum of their politics and a party wants to divide the state on the religious lines to gain political mileage," Yadav said.

He said Uttar Pradesh has done much better than Gujarat. "The state is not able to get the publicity as a section of media has spread a canard against the Samajwadi Party Government. Our Government is done so much for Muzaffarnagar victims but no media mentioned that. Instead, it wrote about the Saifai mahotsava," Yadav said and asked party workers to be aware of these divisive forces.
