Congress decides laying emphasis of re-connecting with people

Tuesday, 30 September 2014 | PNS | Lucknow

Facing humiliating defeat in the last Parliament elections besides finding that the Party is touching the new low as war as battle of ballets is concerned during the last over two decades, Congress high-command finally decided to lay emphasis of making a re-connect with the public, know their problems and raised it at the right platform.

``Congress is a brand which is now losing its grip mainly due to generational gap so our main job is tell the present generation not just about our glorious past along with contributions in freedom struggle but also to make them feel that even now we are with the common man and were concern with their day to day problems”, asserted AICC general secretary and in-charge of UP, Madhusudan Mistri, while laying stress that the Party’s revival could be  made in this biggest state only when they would make a direct connect with the public here. ``It is a matter of concern for us that in Gujrat and many other states, Congress candidate easily get 20,000 or more votes in Assembly elections but here in UP, we get restricted just to few thousands despite of our hard-word”, cited Mistri saying that the core-reason behind it is that Congressmen here do not took pain to make a connect with the people which is very important to re-establish Congress. Mistri made above observations about Congress downfall before the media soon after he held meeting with the district and city presidents who came here on Monday.

Madhusudan Mistri, in presence of State president, Nirmal Khatri, claimed that for revival of the Party, they had to carry on job to make a re-connect with the people as well as to strengthen the Organisation simultenously. ``We already directed all the district and city president to prepare a list of 100 local persons including old Congressmen, who were concerned with the Party so we could directly learnt from them that what they feel about the Congress and to take suggestion that how we could jointly restore the lost glory of the Party”, Mistri said while disclosing that they would go in four districts (Ambedkarnagar-8th October, Jaunpur-9th October, Hathras-11th October and Ferojabad-12th October), to directly give a kick to their above plan after which four separate teams will be formed to carry this exercise in the all the district.

Mistri further said for better connect with the people, they had directed the local chiefs to go in wards, villages, hold meeting with local residents, pradhans, and other civic bodies chiefs, know about the local issues and problems, and then prepared a plan along with the budget and suggestions that how those could be overcome. ``This is my personal experience that if you prepared a draft of any problem, and keep on raising the issue on right platform, all the matters would be resolved with period of time”, claimed AICC general secretary while stressing that this practice if adopted in true spirit by the Congressmen, would go a long way in re-establishing Congress connect with the local public. Mistri also directed to open `Public Grievances Cell’ at every district head-quarters and to pursue all the complaints till they reached to it’s logical conclusion. He said that to make this job easier for the Party leaders, they would organise a big workshop in Vrindawan at Mathura in the first week of December. He claimed that till then they would also give shape to state as well as district level units. Besides, all the district and city unit chiefs would meet every month along with their report cards, here at Congress head-quarter so that time to time steps could be taken for re-establishing the Party.

He also revealed about Congress plan of organising two big agitations, In Basti on October 17 and in Muzaffarnagar on October 18, to press the demand of increasing support price of cane growers as well to get their arrears and other dues cleared at earliest. Similarly, the Congress would organise many programmes in all the districts on occasion of Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), former prime minister Indira Gandhi’s death anniversary on October 31 and Pandit Jawahar lal Nehru’s birth anniversary on November 14.
